Hello, all and one. A fellow Longines Enthusiast Said this may be the right forum for a little bit of assistance with my 1940s Longines Tre Tacche Mid Size I have recently acquired. I’m really struggling to identify the dial which has me worried in a moment of impulse I have purchased a Frankenstein watch. I wondered if any of you fine folk maybe able to shed any light on this reference for me. Any help very gratefully received.

Based on the photo provided, I think that the dial has not been refinished. Whether or not it is original to the case/movement is more difficult to determine. Sometimes Longines (the brand) has information in their archive that is useful. One thing that I notice is the "Swiss Made" printing, which was not common for all markets. Also, the lume on the hour/minute hands has been redone and the crown is incorrect.

I think the case is not original to the movement because of the STAYBRITE mark which is unusual for a watch/movement with a number dating 1941/42.
I expect a Staybrite case more in the mid/late 30s.

One can find "Staybrite" on tre tacche case-backs from the early 1940s. Below are two more examples for reference.

Hi everyone,
Two days of googling and I still didn't find to many information about this beauty 😀. The dial seems to be quite rare (?) as I found just few examples on the internet 😕 . Most of the dials for ref 3403 are different from this one. Any other suggestion from more experienced ? Thanks in advance for any reply.

This dial has been incorrectly refinished. Here's what a proper dial on this reference looks like:

Hands seem to be incorrect replacements also. There are dozens of examples of this watch on Google.

Thank you ! I appreciate your comment. If the dial is refinished, I have to admit they did a great job . The printing is very crisp and nice and I could swear it's original, especially because as I said I found on the internet few others perfectly identical. This why I was confused.
