Help! Real or fake vintage Omega seamaster?

Hi all,

trying to go for my second omega watch and found this one on this Dutch website we have (kind of Ebay). The guy selling it is only asking 375 but to me it looks too good for that price comparing to others. Says it’s been his dads and that he inherited it. If I drive there this weekend, and it’s actually this watch on the pics that I can take home, should I? The number 131 010 does not tell me anything when looking it up on google. What do you guys think? Hope you can help me out!

The dial looks repainted, but the 18k case is worth far more than a few hundred dollars, so it sounds like a scam to me. He probably stole those photos from somewhere.

Thanks Dan! The drive is not too far, so if I would go over there and will actually be able to take it home should I? No other signs to you that it might be a Franken watch? Stamps on the inside for example? I’m not an expert, as you could tell

Dan, are you sure that it’s not gold capped in spite of what the case back says? When I zoom in on the photos of the back of the lugs, that looks like stainless steel around the edges near the tips of the lugs.

The back of the lugs do look funny, but I also seem to see what appears to be a hallmark on the back of lug at lower left in the image. I'm not sure what to say based on those photos.

Understood. The more I study that photo, the more I’m convinced that it’s gold capped and that the whole listing is suspect. I also agree with you that the dial has been refinished. I think that I’d walk away.

The watch itself is poor. The redial is terrible.

The best outcome here is that it’s a genuine listing and you buy some scrap gold for less than spot price. The watch is crap.

I also think although on first glance it appears solid gold, the lugs suggest capped.

To me, the potential upside isn’t worth the time/effort so I wouldn’t give it any more of my time.

Reference number looks like 131.010 and no watch like that shows up in a search. It’s a Geneve model with cal. 601

I can see the Omega triangle in the first image, but not the stamped name which is odd. It should easily be seen

price is way too low

Just a follow up, the actual caseback is clearly 18ct gold, although I still have doubts about the case, although what looks like worn gold cap on the tips of the lugs could be reflection.

As above though, it’s not worth owning as a watch as the dial is a terrible redial. You’d be buying it hoping it’s not a scam, to scrap in the case. Still not worth the hassle/risk imo
