What do you guys think about this Speedmaster... I checked everything on speedmaster101 and it seems that it's fairly original apart from the crown wich has some odd patina to it. But maybe the keen eyes of the pros here spot something I have missed . Not much info about the watch.It was passed down to the seller by his grandfather so no clue about Service history, according to the seller its running. Ser. of the movement is in the 31 range. Thanks a lot guys!

 

Crown is probably just worn, and the rest looks great---never polished, perhaps. Get a service and a new crystal and this will be very nice.

Well I would guess with a lot of purchases has to come some kind of knowledge and "feel" for a watch . Considering price it's fairly under what's stated on the speedmaster101 chart.

 

Shouldn't this have a DON bezel?

 

Some early plain backed 69s did. Later 69's, including the straight writing casebacks didn't.

 

The other tell is that the bezel (correctly) has the tall Tachy writing without any accents over the letters.
