Hi. I am pretty new here and hope to get some help on search of my first vintage omega. One of the watches I was considering is ref.101.009-65. From the photo I got from Christie’s, I saw that the index is done with onyx inlay (pic 1), however one seller’s watch I saw online (pic 2) appeared that the index at 4,5 o’clock are either faded (painted on?) or fell off. Does it appear normal to you, anything that I should worry about this dial? Thank you
Hi, here is a subject that may interest you. https://omegaforums.net/threads/weird-onyx-index-on-constellation-deluxe.145779/page-2#post-1991216 hard to tell from your pics, but onyx may appear brownish when exposed to an heavy light. It occurs on some Constellation, so probably same with your model
Thanks for the help and sharing of your experience I looked at the photo closer. Also checked with the seller. We thought the index seemed to be printed on instead of a onyx inlay? Is there possibility omega has the index printed in black on top of the Golden index
You need a high quality pics to figure out if it is black paint or onyx. Black paint may faded, onyx may be translucide brownish with direct light on it
