This is my 1st post. I just purchased this speedmaster off the bay on Monday night. I've seen some of these with and without the Number (10) at the 10 second mark, mine has it. I'm wondering if this is a service dial, or not? It also has red paint in the omega logo? On the winding crown, I'm colour blind, looks red to me. The bracelet code is 1162/1/172? Any extra info on this beauty would be greatly appreciated. I need to pickup a few extra links, my paw is just a little to big. I'm looking to get a early speedmaster professional, but I saw this one, and had to have it. The bay pictures didn't do it justice, it's really in incredible shape.

1162 is the bracelet reference. you should be able to find some extra links on ebay for that bracelet. 172 is the end link that attaches the bracelet to the watch.

dial looks original to me. more reading here: http://chronomaddox.com/c1045_in_detail.html

oh, and welcome to the forum!

Everything looks great, just not a Mk IV. Dial is correct and in great condition, doesn't matter much if it's a service dial or not. Where did you see dial for ref 176.016 that doesn't have the numeral 10 minute/second?

What model is this, if not a iv? I guess I was looking at the wrong reference.

Yours is reference 176.016 like I wrote above. The Mark IV, ref. 176.009, would say so on the dial and is quite different in many ways, but it has the same bracelet and end links.

Mr. Maddox's site given above has a lot of info on these auto-speedies for you.

Thank you TNT. I have a small issue now, the winding crown pulled all the way out. I slid it back in carefully. Is this an easy fix for a watchmaker?

You're welcome. Most often the crown retainer screw just got loose and can be tighten easily. If the watch's service history is unknown though, it's in your best interest to have it serviced before continue wearing it.
