    Hi guys

I am looking at a nice vintage sm300, I have done a lot of research into the watch and believe it to be genuine, however I am struggling to work out what a fair price is for it as there is not much out there for sale.

It is described as a sm300 Deep Blue- but I cannot find that reference anywhere online...

Any help on both issues would really be appreciated. Best Pictures I have below

The "deep blue" is a seamaster 120 and reference 166.073.

I wonder if they have just got the reference wrong. What should I look for when I go to view the watch?

Thanks- it looks the same as the 1st picture in the link which is encouraging.

The reference number should be 165.024. Beside what Stewart said, make sure the movement is a calibre 552 (the 550 would be too old for that crown) and in good condition.

You can check completed listings on eBay for past sold price range, as well as listings on sales forums for going prices. The bracelet, if genuine, is worth $2-300 extra.

Don't waste your bus fair going to view that one.

Bezel is wrong and looks like it is from a SM120, short broken seconds hand, mis matched hand lume, not to mention that ref 166.024 should have a date.

    Continue your research! ;)

Good observation! What's wrong with the crown? And the bezel looks like one of the legit variants except the blueish colour. Anything incorrect about it?

Sorry, now edited, crown is not incorrect, just the later screw in version. I'm viewing on my phone and the bezel looks too blue to me for a natural fade. I'm not convinced this is genuine to that ref.

I'd take a chance on that bezel. Bigger issue for me though is the darkish lume on the dial, which I'd only buy if it's an absolute must get, especially for that price.

PS: I forgot, if the ref. number on the inside case back really says 166.024 then the watch is an assembly of mismatched parts and no way worth that price.

For me, what set the franken-sense off was the space between the hash and the number "10" on the bezel. That's rather odd printing. I went back to my photos and I didn't notice a large gap in between.

P.S. Sunlight shot to also illustrate how an evenly faded bezel ought to look. Basically not an outright blue, although from some angles there may be a bluish tint!

Good eyes, and nice big triangle, lwong! But I see your bezel is off on the zero side of most of the numbers, while the one in question is off on the opposite side. The font types on both bezels appear to be the same though. Some weird things with Omegas here...

Yes, now that you mention it...

A better picture. Not by much, but it's all I have as the watch is back home with the rest of my small stash.

I have owned and seen blue bezels on these.
The blue SM120 bezels do not fit.
That being said, you'll find a better example out there, its too expensive as well, I'd pass.
