Hello all,
I just found this super nice Omega Seamaster 166.009 on ebay. I love it but discovered that the lume on the 10 o’clock marker got tainted by some rust.
Any possibility to clean it?
I will also try to find a vintage second hand as the one on the watch is rusted as well.
For the black dot at 6, I think it’s too damaged to do anything.
thanks for your help !

A straight on close up photo of the dial and hands in natural light would help us to better evaluate the watch and address your questions. The 166.009 is not an uncommon reference, so you might be better off just looking for another example that doesn’t need work.

The lume has some mold, some people have luck with bleach, but cleaning that particular type of marker would be very risky.

Aside from that, the watch is what it is, it's 50+ years old and the sweep hand has a little corrosion. So what, it's in honest condition. I don't understand this urge to optimize a relatively common mid-tier reference. If you want a perfect watch, you can buy a modern re-issue.

Well noted! I just feel it’s nice to give second life to watches. But I understand that for this piece, it’s overdoing things.

Omega still have this service hands with luminova. The stained tritium markers, cant be cleaned. Can be only relumed.
If you mean the ding on the bezel, it can be laser welded.
