    Hello to all
I’m trying to find out about this watch, I checked online and the majority that I see they have the inner bezel with the tachometer starting at 500 and the one I’m about to buy starts by 350. Any one could hel me on this please . Just to make sure that the watch is completely original and don’t have the inner bezel replaced . Sharing pics
    Thanks

Tom Cruise wore a PD01 in the original Top Gun film, hopefully he will still be wearing it in the new Top gun film!

I take your point about the word tachymetre stealing some of the bezel space but I'd love to hear if this turns out to be a real world issue for you.

Don't all tachymteric bezels have the same scale? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tachymeter_(watch)

And I'm genuinely sorry not to be of real help.

Durri70 I recently purchased one with the same bezel and am a little ashamed to admit that I did not notice beforehand. Were you ever able to learn more about this bezel?

Most of the images I have seen online have the bezel with the 500, but like you, I have also seen images of 4 or so other bezel variations. My hope is that our "350" bezel is indeed original and was perhaps sold to a particular market or produced at a particular time.

If it helps, I also found our "350" bezel on a watch shown in this article. So we aren't alone:

I just emailed the contact email listed on the PD website about this. Perhaps with some luck we'll hear back.

Your tachy 350 bezel is legit. We serviced and sold 100's in the 90's. PD website will not know. You are talking about the time, when Orfina in CH ( Schifferle family ) got the Porsche Design contract. Later it went to IWC and Eterna. All good with your chrono. Kind regards. Achim

This is wonderful news, thank you so much. I'm very new to collecting and the re-release of the "Chronograph 1" has made it difficult to dig up information about the older models. Is it possible to find out more information about the various models produced, or is that kind of thing lost to time?

    Thanks again

    Hello everyone,
I am new to the Forum and apologize for my bad English. I use the DeepL translator. I am from Switzerland (Lugano, Italian Switzerland) and I collect mainly Heuer and Orfina Porsche Design .
Regarding durri70's Porsche Design, the model in question is a 7176, with a 350Km tachymeter bezel and a white triangle at 12 o'clock. On the case back you will find the inscription 7176 and also the height-digit serial number starting with 000. This is the first Orfina to mount the Lemania 5100 (previously it mounted the Valjoux 7750 and was marked Orfina/Porsche Design and was the original Chronograph 1).
This 7176 series in my opinion is the rarest, followed by the 7176D and then the 7176S and finally 7177 and 7178. Starting with the 7176, there was the civil version (normally in black PVD) and the military version, with the H3 inscription in red (the latter was predominantly with a chrome finish). There are, however, military PVD and civil chrome-plated versions.
The 7176 to 7178 series were produced from 1975/6 to 1978 when Ferdy Porsche changed supplier and started producing with IWC
If anyone has news of other series I would be happy to have information and photographs.

If you need more infos or parts for PD Lemania 5100 chronographs, let me know. Should have some advertising leaflets somewhere as well. And still some parts, hands , crystals and others....

The 3H examples , no matter which designation, need the inner 12 hour bezel. Not the Tachy one.

Personally, I have always seen the reference 7176 'Military' only with the tachymeter bezel, while from the 7176S onwards they had the 12-hour bezel by default, although the customer could order it with the tachymeter bezel. On the other hand, even if they had the 'Military' inscription, they were almost always 'civil' watches, apart from the BUND ones on the back, and were sold in watchmakers' shops. A similar thing happened with Heuer Autavia 1163 'Siffert Colors' The standard bezel was tachymeter but the customer could order it 'HM'.
I am very interested to know more about Orfina's Lemania 5100, could you help me?
    Thanks

Good day. Im new to this forum and have a watch that Im struggling to date. The Reference on the case back is 7176D its got the Lemania 5100 Movement (signed LEMANIA WATCH LTD) its got an Orfina signed inside case back and the Orfina logo on the clasp. Also the airplane hand in orange. I had originally thought it was 1970s but the serial number (I've blocked some of it out) looks very high. 2031****
Were they making these in the 1990s too?

    any help gratefully apreciated

    thank you

No. That's a later assembled parts watch. Need the white dot 60 minute hand, not the aeroplane hand. Nothing military here. If you need that correct hand, let me know. We have plenty parts left for most variants.

    Hello there,

Resurrecting an older post here, I'm trying to find the year of production for my 7176 S. Perhaps it will be easier once I have the watch opened up and can check the movement serial but for now, I only have the caseback serial. Checking online, it's nearly impossible to get an idea of date range, so if anyone has any clues, that would be much appreciated.

    Serial # 37145

    Thanks for any assistance!
    Danny
