Help on 1979 seamaster 166.0204

Looking at a Seamaster online and tempted to pull the trigger on, wanted to vet it with OF community.

Everything seems to tie out, but I’m pretty novice on vintage omegas. Serial number is 42.429.555 and can see that on the movement which is a caliber 1010 so believe all ties out there.

Pictures do not include the case back, but it looks like it’s a ref 166.024 (https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/watch-omega-seamaster-omega-st-166-0204).

Anyone spot anything that would sway you away from this watch?

Appreciate the help

My only other observation is that with the period of the watch, it should be tritium lume, and based on the dark color of the lume dots and hands, and the staining on the dial, this watch had moisture in it at some point.

I’ve got to say that I’m not loving the condition of the dial. Unless this is very cheap, I’d pass. What is it about this that you really like?

This watch is from the 80s so I would like to see/buy a better condition dial unless the price is too good to say no. It appears all correct with the correct 17J cal 1010. I believe this watch was only sold on a leather strap if that helps

I had found a similar seamaster a while back and posted here on the forum asking about the jubilee bracelet and found out yes indeed they did come equipped with that bracelet. I think the OP's example is ok.

Right now it’s only $225 but haven’t put a bid in yet, part of the appeal. I thought the patina was even and the color was more like a Tropical.

Didn’t see your thread on it but good to know. Thanks

$225 is the current listing price, haven’t put in any bid yet to test the price.

well keep in mind the pic you posted is a very large close-up and on the wrist the watch probably appears much nicer dial-wise. $225 is small money in my opinion considering the original bracelet. It may very well be a good runner too. The movement doesn't look weathered.

Generally trying to stay under $500-$700 including any service costs that might be included. Giving myself a bit of a buffer.

Have a certified omega watch repair close by me so I know service is good, but also pricey .

Truth be told I was under the same impression as you and most examples of that model I encountered were on leather straps, hence my thread asking about them when I ran across the one I bought locally with omega markings on the jubilee.
