    Hi,
Just new to the forum and bought 2 entry level vintage watches, 1 of these being an 1973/74 Omega Geneve 136.0102 Cal 1030, the watch seems to run fine, but then stops after a few hrs, can anyone advise what the underlying problem might be, prior to me going to a jewellers.

    Thanks for any advice!!!

    Rgds John

    Pitpro,
Thanks, it runs fine on my wrist but may run for 5 or 6 hrs then stops, when winding it doesn't feel like there is much resistance, could this be related?

    Thank again for you help

    Cheers John

    Hi John,

Sounds like you are not winding it fully, wind and wind until it stops, if it doesn't stop winding your mainspring is broken.

Your problem might be partly the result of a badly worn crown that could be hard to grip. As Horlogerie suggests, inadequate winding or broken mainspring could also contribute.
