Help needed !! Redial?

Hello.....
So this watch has come up for sale. I have gone over the pictures and my initial reaction was... Redial.
However the aging of the lume is throwing me off. The overall condition seems very nice.
But a redial would be a dealbreaker for me.
Really looking forward to your inputs.
Thanks in advance.

Why do you think it’s a redial?

nothing strikes me as wrong, but I’m not an expert on these. The things I normally check seem fine, although I’d reach out to a few people to verify.

I dunno.... It's something about the font that is throwing me off.

You're right to be suspect. I'd expect a two-tone dial. But an easy first check would be to make sure the movement is chronometer rated!

Thank you. I should be able to get pics of the movement on Saturday. Which caliber should I expect? 354?

It's the dial that is causing me a major dilemma.

The movements another issue. 😀

For me, redial without any doubt…

The lume, the fonts, the overall color… Nothing makes me think of an original print.

do you know the reference number?
No... I do not. I will know hopefully in a couple of days when the seller will send a movement pic.
Thank you.

The watch looks like a 2767 with 354 movement. Here's a side-by-side with mine which has an original dial. The font is completely different, the Omega logo is printed not applied, and the Swiss Made is differently positioned. The Ms in Automatic and Chronometre are reversed. The lume dots look very new and unperished. I haven't seen enough others to know the legitimate variants but for me there are several red flags. I'd be doing an image search of Seamaster Chronometre if I were considering this watch.

Redial. Font is way off and the crosshair lines are too dark, too thick and there are gaps on the 9 o'clock and 12 o'clock lines.

100% redial.

The lume plots aren't very nice either. As @Edward53 shows extremely effectively above, a look at how heavy the lines and fonts are will tell you everything.

This is a 1950 2577 with a 351 movement.

Another contender for comparison

I would say that it is a 2846, so probably a cal. 501 full rotor movement. The caseback has a different design to the 2767.

You may be right and I'm not saying it's definitely a 2767, but the caseback certainly looks identical to mine. It and the one the OP posted both have snap-on casebacks with two steps at the edge.

One of the better redials that I’ve seen. If they could figure out how to artificially age the dial to make it look like it’s 70 years old, then it would be tough to tell.

I suspect it is Asian made, possibly South Korean. The Korean collectors do not like aged dials and will happily purchase nicely done redials like this one.

Missed the snap back 🙁. Mine’s a screwback. Forget my post.

Interesting! I didn't know that 2767s came with the stepped caseback edge
