    Hi,

I have recently come across a Mark 4.5 at the local watch shop. I really like the watch and have been reading and searching for as much info as possible. I am really close in pulling the trigger to purchase this at around 1700 USD, however I would like guidance from members on this forum on the condition on this watch.

I was told that the bracelet and clasp are replacement....Crown was a suitable replacement...and when I tried to set the day/date, I can feel a slight movement on the dial - movement.

I will let the pictures do the talking - sorry for the picture quality as this was taken in a low light condition, but I hope these can help. All inputs are greatly appreciated and what would be the fair price for one in such condition.

Do you know the movement number?

The scratches in the sapphire crystal wont come out by the way - if it annoys you, you’ll have to get a new one at the next service.

These watches can take some polishing/ case refinishing, and the best way to see how much metal has been lost already is to look straight at the lugs -see the red arrows below, this gap canget very thin ( you dont want this)

    Whats the bracelet ref also.

    Mine says hi

I cannot see it in your pictures but I believe there is supposed to be a wavy spring washer that holds the movement against the case back. This part could be very difficult to find, and would explain why the movements loose. Personally I think about 1750 would be a good price for one that has been serviced and has (all) the correct parts. That would include the correct bracelet.

Can anyone here identify the part number for the"wavy spring washer" needed to keep the movement still. Have decided to get the watch at around 1570 USD. Hopefully its a good buy without any major issues.

And my newly purchased says Hi...Not as prestine but really glad I got it. Your advice on the lug width was spot on, mine has been polished and refinished as I can tell from the lug width way back in its lifetime, but not too much. Will have it serviced soon by my watchmaker.

Looks nice - especialy the lume plots, aged a nice colour while mine are typical early 80s green still

    Enjoy

Presume you have visited the late great Chuck Maddox web site - he loved these
