Hi All, I've recently inherited this watch and im having trouble identifying what model it is, I would love to restore it back to its original condition, im guessing the strap isn't original? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. . Many Thanks
Going by the caseback I'd say it's for Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956. Dunno about that dial and crown.
hi, i think the strap is not the problem. if you search for "Seamaster XVI" you can see, how the watch should look like. your dial has been badly redone... rgds - h.u.
The dial is not only badly redone - it is the wrong dial for this ref. 2850 Should either have an Olympic cross of merit or applied roman gold numbers XVI on it Will be hard to find an original one (and costly)...
On the contrary, it likely is... except it will be very difficult unless Omega has the dial in stock that you need. Tom
Omega does definitely not have these dials in stock any more - otherwise it would be easy to restore it... Most of the value is in the dial with this model as these dials tend to age badly - mostly the lacquer is cracked and so the dials are re-done
Thanks for the comments guys.. So whats the best route forward? Would love to restore it but not sure how much that would cost. . Or how much the watch is worth as is? Thanks
