Milgauss...... although I'd buy the Tressor first....... that was one of the options right?

Thanks for the further responses!

Funny this morning at my hotel, the wait staff serving me breakfast had a beautiful Explorer II 16570 white dial on his wrist, had a chat about how his father gave it to him a few years ago after he graduated university. Definitely fueled the fire for the explorer II... its just hard for me to justify the crap bracelet though - if I'm gonna pay $4500-5500 (for newer 3186 models) for a watch, I'd want it to have an amazing bracelet and clasp. You can get beautiful girard perregaux's and JLC's second hand for this kind of money! I know the hollow links reduce the weight, but I'd definitely prefer the more solid current gen rolex bracelets.

More-so, I've noticed after trying a few on that the EXPII bracelet, you can only remove 2 links on the 6-o-clock side of the watch... meaning people with smaller wrists such as mine (6.5 inches) are guaranteed to have a significantly off-centre bracelet. How annoying!!

I do love the design though.. so it's a pity that the newer Explorer II 42mm is so large and oversized - I really don't like the proportions (just my take, maybe biased because I have small wrists).

time to save for the datejust 36!

You chose exactly how I was thinking... I owned the white Milgauss and loved it's versatility and quirkiness. But I think it's more of a fun piece and better as a compliment to a collection. For even more versatility, I think you chose perfectly 😀
Enjoy!

If you have reservation about the cyclops.................. I wont go there.

Datejust without cyclops would be very nice.

They call it oyster perpetual 😉

VERY classy... And way cleaner than the DJ... 👍

Just another option for the OP

Agreed, I do like that watch very much! The oyster perpetual 39 also with the sunburst grey dial is pretty amazing. unfortunately, i have my heart set on a clean white dial, so that rules these options out 🙁

for now at least....

Im not a fan of the white Milgauss. The orange sticks are a bit too much for me. The white datejust ii looks great to my eye. Its stunning.

Certainly can warm up the stark whites with adding a few drops of moca on an older Explorer 2:

I'm going to say Explorer II as well. The green crystal, black faced Milgauss is much better to look at than the white face, but as that isn't one of the choices, EXII.
