Hi guys,

I'm restoring an old SM300. SO far so good or almost. the dial screws are very hard to remove. I already broke two blades' tip. I put a drop of oil on them during the night but I can't catch the slot of the screws. I would be very angry to break the feet. it'as a 1963, no need to tell about its value...

thanks

If you end up knackering the movement plate I think I have a nice one you can have.
Let me check when I am home later.

I thought using a drill. I don' really care about the plate, I have another one. The thing is that if i go to deep, I will drill the feet too, so back to zero...
The tritium of the hands simply exploded when i took the movement out. Befoir I even had time to remove them. There's some work to be done.
And "let it no be"

What about using a dremmel to grind a thin line out of the plate where the screws are.
I think Al mentioned some type of acid to desolve screws too.

I thought of that too. Drilling outside the plate at the level of the screws hand. That is ethically not good! 😲

If you don't care about the rest, then use alum to dissolve the screws out, or take it to someone who knows what they are doing...
