By now I have probably used up all my ‘valuation-credit’ on this forum. However I have previously received so much useful feedback, so I hope you will bear with me and help me on this Speedmaster 145012-67 SP cal. 321.

The watch is being offered without price as the seller does not have much knowledge of Speedmasters - I am going to see it tomorrow. Therefore I am looking to find out what I should pay for it while being fair to the seller also.

Originally owned by sellers father, the watch has been in a drawer for a long time - the father left the watch there back in the day because it was not running and a service came at a higher price than the watch value. The movement does not currently run. Son and father has now both agreed to sell the watch as is.

My thoughts; the watch has seen a lot of use and enjoyment. I do not dislike the heavy vintage look, but price should reflect it. Dial, case, bezel and hands appear original. I can’t tell if the pushers and crown are original. Difficult to tell from sellers images. I will try to take better pictures tomorrow.

Please share your thoughts and valuation of the watch. Thank you!

Edit: The watch is sold as head only, however a new original Omega Hesalite crystal comes with the watch.

price?

looks original, with honest wear.
case is worn and the caseback is visible but tired from use, dial is cleanish, lume did not age well.
movement has seen a watchmaker before, but not the kindest hand. will need a service.
i'm guessing the crown is original, though no photo shows it.
a crystal is a good call to replace what looks like a cracked one. hands "well aged"
bezel isn't perfect, but may be the best feature.

can you get it for $4500 and put a grand into it and be sitting on a sub $6k 145.012? or would you forget to smile with that ungracefully aged dial and beat down handset?

depends on the price, and do you like the look?

seems a great watch .. if the future agreed price is right it should be a nice opportunity .. whatever the crown and pusher ..

I will be the contrarian here. I would rather invest in a different watch. If it had sentimental value to me, then that would be a different story obviously.

^^What they said. There are so many of these out there that unless you find this utterly stunning, I would wait for a more attractive watch. If it were $2k, then hell yes- and find another dial.

^^^what they said: this is not an attractive watch, IMHO. I would put the cash toward something nicer.

It all about the price. If you can get for $3500... well you may be OK after you service it, relume it (dial and hands IMO). By then you will have an extra $1500+? into it and you will have a wearable, but not an all original watch. It is very hard to tell if there are other dial problems beyond the lume. If so, add another $1000.

I agree with Dan S and others who are saying pass. A true collector would not be interested in this particular watch.
But, lets go over pricing anyways according to Speedmaster101...

The dial is poor, it's unattractive, discolored, possibly missing lume not only in the hour plots but the hands as well
The bezel is fair DON, just too many scuffs
The case is fair minus, heavy wear, dings, scratches and dents.

Dial 4,500
Bezel 5,500
Case 4,750
Average.... 4.9K
Minus movement not functioning and don't know cause -1.5K
If you aren't concerned about the esthetics and this watch, and I can't imagine why, appeals to you, I wouldn't offer more than 3.4K.
Your call....

Thank you, people!

Yet again you are completely right. This piece is not particularly attractive to me, but you know the drill. I saw a chance for something I really wanted at a low price which apparently made me blind.

I will go check the watch out anyway (I do not like to cancel appointments), but unless it is almost given to me, I will pass on the purchase.

Thank you, OF!

No crown side shots, potentially another issue and additional costs.

There is another option. You could buy the watch and remove the bezel. Send the watch to Omega for a service. Chronograph service starts at $950 USD. See what they estimate for complete service. They will tell you this before starting work. Do the math. It just might be a worthwhile gamble.
They will give you back the parts if you specify/ask and you may be able to mitigate some of the costs. The bezel is not great but it does have value.
