    hi,

recently, i inherited a watch from my grandpa who recently passed away. it is a beautiful vintage omega watch and i am planning to use it as a dress watch.

however, i couldn't identify the watch. it looks like a seamaster from early 1960's (i knew that this watch was purchased in 1964) but i am not sure. there is no sign or model number behind the watch. furthermore, there is too much dirt on the dial since it hasn't been used for a long time. that means only omega fans can identify this watch. can you please help me? (bonus question: should i clean off the dirt in the dial or use it as it is for more "vintage look"?)

We need pictures of the inside. Get the caseback off by a competent watchmaker. A lot of information is in there. Pictures of the movement and inside caseback will tell us all we need to know.

Hard to give too much info because of how washed out the dial is (don't clean it, looks like it's been cleaned before...).

I'd wear it in the condition you received it.

i have taken the watch to a watchmaker. they refused to clean the dial since it may cause some minor damages. but they fixed the mechanism and now it works. unfortunately, i didn't tell them to check the information in the inside :(

i am using it as it is. the vintage dusty look seems nice.
