Hi, Below are pictures of my watch, I can't get the case back off with my tool. (I saw someone either on this forum or on watchuseek with an identical watch but can't seem to find him anymore, He had made a thread about his trip to the NYC Omega shop.) I really would like to order the correct crown and crystal for this watch, If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated! As well, would getting an identical new genuine Omega crown instead of a vintage one devalue the watch? Thanks!
I think it's a ref. 2848 with cal. 490/491. The case back is of press-in type and should be easily pried off. A new crown is fine as I don't think vintage/used crowns has much value at all wrt to a low value watch in general. http://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-omegas/vintage-watches-database?ref=14722 Hope it helps.
Thank you! I found the type of crown I need (069ST42023). Can anyone help me find the part # for the crystal? Thanks
Thanks! I checked but I couldn't find it listed. I contacted a kind watchmaker who looked up the part number for me on the Omega Extranet. The crystal for a 2848 is 063PZ5140: Glass Plexi St Ring D29.62 H4.7. (In case someone finds this thread in the future) Also, who set my profile picture? I did not set the one that is currently being used, it is hilarious though.
That all seems correct based on this: http://boley.de/en/case-parts/omega/7919?search=2848 This looks like the work of ulackfocus, one of our esteemed moderators. Those of us of a certain age would understand. Others would be clueless. gatorcpa
