Dad has dementia so details are sketchy but he says he bought it shortly after WWII - so 1946-1950. I do have the box but no papers. Case is gold. Back is silver with 6 indents for removing the screw on back. There are no letters, number, or symbols on the back. Dial is black. The hour indicators are rectangular and come to a point. The hands are triangular and come to a sharp point. They have a recess in the center. In addition to the Omega symbol, the word Omega and Automatic appear at the top. There are no words at the bottom. At the very bottom I can barely see the word Swiss but not without magnification and a precise angle. Stem may not be original - it does not have an Omega on it. Appreciate your help!
Hi, welcome to Omega Forums. You have a gold capped bumper, probably a caliber 351. In English: gold capped = a thick layer of gold plating bumper = a self winding mechanism that bumps back & forth on stoppers. (you should feel it, as if a coin is bouncing around inside the watch) caliber = another word for the guts of a mechanical watch 351 = Omega's designation for the model of movement.
If you had a picture of the inside of the back with the markings on it we could perhaps tell you a little more.
Thanks guys. One follow-up: I plan to have the watch restored and wear it occasionally. Can I get this done locally (Atlanta GA) or will I need to ship it for service?
Womble Watch Works is in your area and they have a pretty good reputation from what I've seen on the forums.
Pretty sure it's for the crown and was standard for this reference. The crown on this watch has been replaced with the wrong size. I'd have to check to be sure though and it would be good to have the case rerference number.

Hopefully it's just a service and a new crystal then look for the smile on your dad's face when he sees you wearing it.
I think Hoi nailed it as a US National Production watch. That is a Swiss Omega movement mated to a US made gold plated and steel case. With the correct crown and a new (or polished) crystal it should look almost as good as new. Have it mechanically overhauled and it should run as good as new also. Your dad will be proud, gatorcpa
Should have done this a few months back. Thanks to ulackfocus for recommending Womble - he did a great job.
