Hi OF family, I just received this Leonidas pilot watch from the 1920s. Im looking for a leather strap for this beauty. Btw I hate the usual flieger bulky straps. Any ideas?
This would be a perfect topic for the Open Discussion board since it has absolutely nothing to do with vintage Omegas.
The watch was issued to the Royal Yugoslavian nascent airforce. The coat of arms you see on the dial is that of King Alexander Karagordjevic, who was assassinated in Marseilles
There are a few strap makers that sell them, or easier custom. I have one on my SKX, little extra height esp if you go horeween leather. Easy for fixed lugs, and little bulk but fits with military style. https://www.dalucastraps.com/1-piece-military-watch-strap-natural-dublin-matte-buckle/ These guys are 25% off right now. Few different leather options.
The original movement is missing, was replaced with a 19-jewel Venus movement. Based on an A Schild military movement.
Still a cool watch. If you know what movement is original to the watch, You can hunt out a donor movement to replace the Venus. Hope the dial feet haven’t been altered. Enjoy it.
Very nice watch, congratulations. There is a thread about strap makers for fixed bars. https://omegaforums.net/threads/open-ended-leather-strap-manufacturers.83322/#post-1071166
