Somehow, someway, I've managed to never own a Constellation.

I don't know much about Constellations, at all.

I know they look really good and are well made :)

I also know the nicest ones in the world are owned by members of this forum.

I'm looking for an average, honest watch for a good price.

What do you guys think of this average watch? Is it honest? Connies come in more flavors and variety than Baskin + Robbins and Heinz, combined...

    Very confusing

I would say your target is better than average
    - depends on the price of course...
Bit of oxidation on the hands but they might clean up when serviced
I have a dome dial cross hair 14381 551 and it is one of my favourite Connies to wear
They don't wear particularly 'big' but if you don't have wrists like tree trunks that shouldn't be a problem

If you're only going to have one it has to be a pie pan. That one looks OK to me, even if it's not "0FICIALLY CERTIFIED" ;)

But when you have one, you wonder about C case Connies.............and dog leg cases.............it's a deep it!

Yes, that's correct. You guys are good.

Serial number is 1803xxxx which I believe is 1961ish.

Does the observatory medallion seem much less polished than the entire rest of the watch? It does to me. Could that mean the case back had a sticker on it? Probably, yes? Hopefully not nefarious.

Price is somewhere between 700 - 800 USD (hopefully, closer to 7), which seems pretty fair to me.

I know I'm a little late to the Connie party but this could a good start for me!

I think you're looking at an above average example. Nice, honest piece with original decagonal crown. Lugs and bezel are reasonably sharp, as is the medallion. Are you able to look inside to make sure the movement is free of corrosion on the SS parts and has its signature bridge "Adjusted to 5 (five) positions and temperature"?

If so, I think you're getting good value.

    Cheers
