·Hi Omega Forums, could I get your kind insight on this seamaster, it was owned by someone close who recently passed on. I am hoping I can get it to a better condition so that it can be returned to his immediate family as a remembrance. I found some pretty similar references after some searching, the closest being this, but it's still not an exact match.
Some observations that I noted:
1. There's no reference or serial number engraved anywhere on the case.
2. There is "11" (I think) engraved on the right side of both endlinks
3. On the dial, Applied vintage omega logo, and the words "Omega Automatic" at 12 oclock; "Swiss" at 6 o'clock
4. The minute and hour hands had a thin strip of lume in the middle, which has now turned black due to age (tritium?)
5. The omega logo on the crystal is there, its obscured by scratches and hard to see from the pictures - but it is there. Does this serve as a sign of authenticity?
6. Crown has vintage omega logo too
7. Comes with a beads of rice (I think?) bracelet and folding clasp has omega logo as well. I have no idea if thi is the original bracelet or aftermarket.
8. I have no box, no papers, no idea of its authenticity, service history, or how much its been worn, but it does look pretty beat up. The crystal seems to be plastic or hesalite, could I remove the scratches with polywatch?
I guess what I really need help with is:
1. Is this an authentic omega? Does anyone now the specific year and reference number of this?
2. Are the parts for this watch still available, are there still watchmakers servicing this? Or would Omega service center be able to take it up?
3. What would the value of this be? Not that I'm looking to sell it, but this could help me gauge how much I should be spending on to have it serviced or restored.
Thank you so much in advance. This would mean a lot to me and the bereaved family.
