I recently sent in my father’s Seamaster to Omega to be overhauled. Based on the information from the service center it has a caliber 420. Looking at the Omega website, it seems the only Seamasters with the 420 movement are the KO2761 and the CK2814 from 1954. But in searching Google Images for these models I can’t find any that look exactly like this watch. Unfortunately, I only took one photo before sending it in for service. Thank you for any help.

Your watch has been redialed, that's why you can't find exactly the same dial.

Also Omega sometimes produced many different dial designs for a specific reference, so when searching it is good to bare that in mind as some designs are way more common place than others.

It may well be cal 420 under the hood if it’s a redial, but you should be aware that calibre 420 is a manual wind movement, so the “Automatic” on the dial would not be true...

Mine is also a redial with cal 420 - serial 1572xxxx puts mine at 1956-8.

These early Seamasters are such elegant watches, in my opinion - can be dressed up and down easily - so wear yours with pride when it comes back to you!

Thank you for the replies. The omega service center said it’s a 420 and I recall my dad hand winding the watch regularly. Now it makes more sense that it’s been redialed. Too bad it the new dial says “automatic.” I look forward to wearing it, with a new strap, when it gets back from Switzerland.

Maybe someone read you the wrong information and it's a 470 inside? That would make more sense than a redial of a manual that says automatic on it...

Below is a screenshot of the information in the swatchgroup-services.biz website a few weeks after I dropped off the watch at the Swatch Group service center in Culver City, California. I don’t know how long it will take to get back to me from Switzerland, but I hope it comes back with more information. Interesting that they entered “manual/automatic simple” under “watch type.”
