    Good day all!

I need some help identifying this Seamaster reference number. I only have the following two images:
    039BD7CA-0BD6-4886-877D-14BC0726116A.jpeg EDF4DB26-7D36-4D83-8469-CD916D412B39.jpeg

Really love the patina on the dial! Shame I don’t have any more photos or information on the watch.

I believe the watch (at least the dial) is from a US model since only ‘SWISS’ is written at the bottom, and that it was produced during the transition period to the new ‘Seamaster’ logo; the coat hanger ‘S’ coupled with a short-tailed ‘r’. Please correct me if I am wrong!

In addition, do you think the crown and case back are original for the ref no.?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

    All the best,
    Chris

The crown is not the correct one for an early Seamaster, but the good news is it's a rare and desirable Constellation crown. The watch might nevertheless have started life with this crown as Constellations of this age are known to have been sold with Seamaster crowns. Correct Seamaster crowns for early Seamasters are still available. So, not really a problem. Can't see anything wrong with the caseback, hands or dial. Don't know what ref the watch is.

I stumbled across this article after i bought this watch, so maybe i could answer some questions and give you some informations.

Yes, this watch was made for the us market, there is "OXG" stamped on the inside on the movement.

This page tells the whole Story:

    http://www.twistoftime.com/2016/08/11/omega-oxw-vs-oxg-import-code-explained-which-is-what-and-why/

I found out, that there are two crown versions. The well known seamaster crown from this period and also the constellation crown.

    This guy seems to know:

Some more Details from the Inside of the watch:

    The reference number: 2869-1 SC

    Cailber: 500

    Serial Number: 14976362

And right now, someone is selling his Gold & Black brother on the bay:

I found out that the seller of the original Seamaster 2869-1 SC I posted above accepted an offer for 210 euro. Honestly not too bad in my eyes, though others may disagree.

I believe it would turn out lovely with a new crystal and a veeeery gentle polish. I would even leave the hands as they are.

Great find! I've seen a few of his videos too. Think I'll give this one a watch just to learn something new.

    Cheers!

Oh! When you said you bought this watch, I hadn't realised that you actually meant you bought this exact watch. I thought you meant you bought one of the same reference ::bleh:: . I can say I am pretty envious of you! I had not seen that there was a 'make offer' option on the listing. Well done! Good deal!

It really looks beautiful! Still love that dial. In addition with that 500 movement and the constellation crown.

Is the crystal an Omega crystal?

Then you better wear long sleeves, otherwise you'll be walking around with one hairy arm and the other smooth as silk ;)::bleh::
