Hi, I am in need of some help identifying this watch and was hoping one of the knowledgeable members here may be able to shed some light on it for me. I have been offered it in exchange for a modern Glycine I have but just need to know if it’s fair for both of us. It seems in very good condition but will only run face down. The movement I believe is a bumper and the serial number as far as I can tell seems to date it to 1944ish. I can’t see a cal number though? I tried to find it on the omega database but alas no luck. Also there is no “Swiss made “ on the dial at least not that’s visible. Oh and the case I a weird snap back with a ring that needs to be removed first. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Many thanks in advance, Paul.
Now that is a nice watch! look up https://omegaforums.net/threads/an-omega-2374-arrives-in-cornwall.15311/ that'll give you some general info and tell you why there is no calibre number. you'll get an idea of value by googling the ref and then decide if its worth swapping the Glycine for.
Here is information from the Omega Vinrage Database: https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/watch-omega-other-omega-ck-2374 No pictures though. The caliber number (“30.10 RA”) should be visible under the balance wheel. The above is a blow up of your picture of the movement and there is the caliber number. Everything else looks as it should. Very nice example. gatorcpa
Thank you so much, it’s funny I also just managed to find it on the database by dropping the last 4 on the case-back number. What do you think of the crown, is it original and if not are original ones available. Thanks again. P.
I think the only way to find out is to compare to other Ref. 2374 examples on the web. My opinion is that it is of the original style, although it could be a later Omega made replacement. Omega watches generally did not have signed crowns in the early 1940’s. I would leave it alone, as it matches the watch well. gatorcpa
It was a glycine incursore. I evened out the deal with some rare motorcycle parts once I found out it was more special than we realised!
Thanks for all your help gentlemen. The watch is now wrapped up safely until I have put aside some money for a full service. I shall update as and when she is back and running sweetly. Cheers, Paul.
