my father brought a speedmaster in 69/70 in germany
it was automatic but had the face of a pro
my father gave it to me 15 uears ago but it was stolen i replaced it with a day date but now i want the same watch but cant find it anywhere can find a 005 but this is manual

If he bought it 1969-70 then it won’t be a so called grail. Those came over a decade later. It could be an early Mk series maybe but those weren’t in Pro cases. Or a flightmaster maybe but the date sounds early for those too. There wasn’t AFAIK an auto movement in the 022 Pro case until the 1980s.

 

69 was the year the very first first 3 automatic chrono movements came to market and none of them was an Omega.
As can be read on the above mentioned site, "[...] Up to 1987 all Moonwatch cased Speedmaster watches were manual wind [...]".
So either it was a manual wind or many years later.

 

Omega did have auto Speedmasters by 1971-2 so not that many years later really but those used a different cases to the manual wind Pro.

i hope not but serously no it had the three small dials at the bottom as a pro

 

i have no idea if it was new when he brought it and his memory isnt too good he sayd he brought it in the naffy when he was stationed in germany and the dates could be a few years either way so between 68-72 probably but i remember it being auto
gotta be honest thought id ask and loads would give me an answer

 

maybe im going mad but in auto i can only find the mk2 but it doesnt look as i remember or maybe ive just been looking at so many my memory has failed

 

Mk2 isn't auto. Other Mk series Speedmasters were but not the Mk2 and nothing before about 1972. Look at the link I posted above for more info.

did they make reduced then as im not a professional i thought they werent produced in that time if they were it might well be

Did yours definitely have a black dial with 3 black subdials?

 

yes i am sure it did as i remember playing with them and the auto cause it would make that noise when shook

 

as i was a child maybe it was manual and made a noise when shook is this possible or am i being an idiot
