Good morning!

i am new to the forum and excited to learn. I was recently gifted two older Onega Seamaster dress watches from a dear friends widow. She had no information with them or knowledge of their age or anything like that and I was hoping g someone could educate me on exactly what these are, when they were made, etc. they are both marked Seamaster on the dial. The black strap watch has an internal
Cyclops and appears to be a front load case. Thanks for any information you can provide

As an educated guess, I think they’re both 166.002 models with calibre 565 movements from the mid/late 1960s.

That said, go to a competent watchmaker, ask them to open the backs, photograph the inside of the caseback and the movement showing the 3 digit movement number and the 8 digit serial number. That should give you all the information you need.

They will both need a service so, if you post where you are, someone will be able to recommend a reasonably priced competent watchmaker near you.

The one on the right seems to be a 14770 and possibly has a caliber 562 inside. I believe it is technically a De Ville, but Omega did not print that on the dial with early models like this one. The watchmaker will need to remove the crystal in order to take a look at the movement.

Thank you all very much. I am in Columbus Ohio. Any recommendations for a reputable jeweler that could open these. The front load one concerns me because I would hate for someone who doesn’t know what they are doing to ruin it. Both watches appear to be keeping good time. Any additional info is greatly appreciated. Any idea in the value of either of these watches? I don’t plan to sell either because the et were a gift from a dear friend but it would be nice to know.
