Hi, I have inherited an old vintage Omega and the only thing I know about it is that it's from 1952. Can someone help me find out what model it is? Regards Erik
More photos, including the movement and inside the back of the case. Here are some things we'll need. https://omegaforums.net/threads/vintage-omega-posting-guide.383/
Here you'll find more Information about your watch: http://naligazone.com/index.php/data-watch/omega/13-watch/omega/168 According to this the watch was introduced 1949 and was sold until 1958. the movement serial Dates this to 1952 so it's in the right range. The Hour indices and Hands seem to be correct but i'm Not sure about the Dial itself. Can you post higher ref pictures of the Dial? What happened to the sub Second Dial ? Something Is off there... Kind regards, Max
I have had service made on it and the watchmaker said that the glass had broken down in the bottom right corner and that the watch was rusty inside and that the dial probably got moisten damaged. That's why the sub second looks a little strange.
Looks like the whole top-layer of the dial has disappeared and the 5-marker has been re-attached, one floor down? Also seems to be some shiny stuff (glue?) sitting next to the hour-markers, although the lume does look original (colored...) on all but the 5. Guessing here as well as speculating (so I will deny in public ) : the hour makers were loosened and then placed back, 5-o'clock first. Then it appeared that this glue was actually eating into the dial? Again, people will hang me for speculating like this, but I have never seen this before. Can water do this and so locally? Calling for @Archer and please excuse me if I stir something up that has a very reasonable explanation. Very much willing to learn.
It's a hot mess... dial that is. Movement looks good, and I am a fan of larger diameter watches such as this. Since it is an heirloom piece, seek a good watchmaker and a redial. Some dials with that ref# indicate a step sub-dial?.
Yeah I will look into a redial sometime later on. Also, when I'm searching photos of this ref I don't find a black dial with the cross sub dial anywhere.. is it rare or am I not searching good enough?
