MissMechanical
·I am a new watch enthusiast and just purchased this ladies’ Longines at a watch repair shop. This is my first serious watch purchase and I was hoping to get some more information about it. The woman at the shop told me it was made in the 1960’s. It is a manual wind and she put it on the timegrapher and it kept time perfectly. She also took it apart for me so I was able to get pictures of the inside, but when I look up the serial number I have been getting conflicting information on when it was made. It seems to be in really great condition for being made in 1960’s, so I’m not sure if the mechanism is original. I know I can submit the information to Longines to get more details, but I don’t want to spend another $130 on a watch that may not be worth very much. Does anyone know how to find what year the watch was manufactured or where it may have been sold originally? I haven’t been able to find anything like it so I’m not sure if it is even authentic. Either way I absolutely love how it looks and I’m already excited to find my next watch. I have listed the information I am able to read below. Any help interpreting this is greatly appreciated!
The back says:
STEEL BACK
GOLD ELECTROPLATED BEZEL
On the inside of the back plate it says:
LONGINES
SW SS
5602
W 1016
(There is also something very faint engraved that I can’t read but it doesn’t look like it is stamped)
On the movement it says:
LONGINES WATCH Co SWISS
SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS
5602
UNADJUSTED
52xxxxxx
