Help identifying and opening grandfathers watch

Hello all! I came here looking for some advice on this watch which was my late grandfathers. I assume I'll need to open it to identify what model this is. Does anyone potentially know what watch this is, or how to open it to identify it? I know some you have to take the glass of and others you pop open the back case. Want to be sure. Thanks

I have a strong suspicion that this watch is a “front loader”. That is, instead of the back coming off to expose the movement, the FRONT will come off in order to allow the movement to be removed. We really need to see any stampings inside the case back. Ignore any “scribbled” marks left by watch repairers. Also, please show us the mechanism.

Yes, it looks like the top bezel pops off with the crystal still attached and the movement lifts out as one.

Based on what I see, I believe the bracelet is a Lucien Piccard bracelet. He may have either changed it out after buying the watch or bought it from a jeweler that way.
