Hi there, looking for some help in identifying the movement and possibly the brand of this watch from the late 1920's early 1930's. There is some nice perlage on the movement. I suspect it may have been put together for a specific jeweller and therefore wasnt marked with a specific brand name.

Yes thats a lot of radium! It makes a geiger counter go crazy. The case itself is chrome plated I believe.

Any help appreciated.

The movement in your watch was likely not made by a watch company whose name you would recognize. About the only hope is that you could remove the dial and hands (Or have someone remove them) to see if the movement maker and calibre number are marked on the pillar plate behind the dial.

^^Yeah, but good luck identifying a watch from a picture. I had this funky UTC29 (actually a Seiko 6602B) that I couldn't identify but a search on an imprint in the train bridge (totally different from the above numbers) showed it's identity on WUS. From there I was able to use Dr. Ranfft's database to determine the mainspring.

My recommendation is to post your picture on the Vintage and Pocketwatch forum on WUS. You will likely get an answer. BTW, Dr. Ranfft shows up there occasionally.

Diameter of movement in millimetres?

It has DNA of a number of Swiss ebauche makers (bridge shapes etc), but the cap jewel plate is very unusual and may help identify someone.

Hi Jim, the movement itself is 24mm across. Any help appreciated.

I'm 90% sure the watch was put together for a Sydney Jeweller, either Saunders or Angus and Coote, who carried similar unbranded watches their 1930's newspaper ads. A number of watches featuring the same dial in this 1935 Daily Telegraph ad:
