I have just received from my father his late father's Omega watch. We do not have many details, but think it was purchased in Europe between late 1940s to early 1960s.

It has very little markings, and a clean back-plate. The band is elastic and not sure if this is original or after market. The watch is not in good condition.

Any help identifying, dating, model type will be much appreciated!

    Many thanks.

    Hi

I think it will be easier for everyone you could open the watch and take some picture of the 'heart' of this watch..All the information are on the case back and mechanism..

    Regards

Will clean up with a service and a new crystal. Find a good watchmaker and you will have a nice vintage Omega to remind you of your grandfather.
Will look good on a leather strap as those old Fixo-flex bracelets aren't the best for the lugs.

Let us know where in the world and someone should point you to a good watchmaker who will open it for you ( don't do yourself please we see too many scratched casebacks from people opening without the right tool )

Thanks you Standy. Do you have any idea of the approximate age or model type? Is the Fixo-flex genuine Omega?

    I am in Melbourne, Australia.

Looks mid 50's to me, I'd guess at a ref 2639 or a 2791, something like that. Calibre, maybe a 265 or 266

Fixo Flex where on a stand in every jewellery shop in those days. Replacement for many of leather straps

Have thrown a lot of them out over the years

@JimInOz probably lives a few doors down from you, so he might give you some advice on service

Well Melbourne is a bit bigger than Darwin, so it would help if @rubo78 let us know a suburb, then we can work on a watchmaker.
