Poorly refinished dial and an overpolished plated case. I would return it and get a refund if you can.
Omega Automatic Bumper 2398-1, call 332, US domestic made gold plated case using imported Swiss movement. looks like redial to me but there are experts here for this.
Would you mind explaining to me why its poorly polished and refinished? Im new to this so im just trying to learn
Look at the lower lugs and you’ll see areas where the gold plating has completely worn through to the base metal (likely brass) underneath. Here are some photos of unpolished lugs. See the difference?
As for the dial refinish, your inability to find an identical dial online for this reference is a strong indication of a redial. The very thick, bold crosshair lines on the subdial are also evidence of a redial. On an authentic original dial the crosshair lines are much finer, as in this example:
I’m not sure the case is really that bad but it’s definitely a redial. One tell is how the minute ticks are slightly out of line with the applied furniture at certain points. You get a feel for redials when you’ve looked at hundreds of watches and there is no doubt over this. Whether that is a deal breaker is up to you.
I paid 770 euro for the watch. Do you guys think its a good price?
