Take it to a watchmaker. You will risk damaging it if you have never done this before.

    Hey again all,
Any idea as to the apprx value?
Also is there a market place here or elsewhere to deal or trade with these older watches and get fair value?
    Thanks

You will need to verify what exactly it is. If not you could not sell if for a fair price.
eBay is your friend if you would like to just dump it to the highest bidder.

    Hey everyone,
Sorry for late reply, I finally got my dad to take watch to dealer to get it open and send me couple of pics. See attached.
Still looking for an idea of value as well as market or where we can sale or trade the watch
    Thanks

Like the other members have mentioned, I believe eBay would probably give you the best approximate market value. Not sure of the case/band is gold or not, but often these watches are almost more valuable as scrap metal.

Here's a similar one with the same caliber on eBay right now. Perhaps watch the auction to see what it sells for.

thank you for the input. my dad had it valued for the gold, its 18 carat and beautifully worked i details. he was told the gold weight alone is about $4k. watch can be warn be man or women and this style is actually making a comeback.
any chance someone will pay more then that on ebay/market/ or dealer?

You need pics of the inside of the caseback for a reference number and a gold hallmark and a pic of the back of the clasp as there should be a hallmark there as well. I find it highly improbable that you have anywhere near $4k worth of gold there. The case and bracelet would have to weigh approx. 130 grams without the movement and crystal and I don't see that there.

Have the gold verified and weighed by a professional and let it go on ebay. If you can verify the gold content you should get at least that value from the watch. It doesn't really seem like this watch has piqued anyone's interest for it's vintage quality...

that is the estimate given by the jewlery store. they did remove the movement but didnt bother removing the crystal for weighing purposes at this early stage
