    Hello everyone,

I'm looking at purchasing my first vintage watch - a gold Omega Constellation. Is there anything in particular I should watch for to avoid a fake? Also, is $2100 US a reasonable price for this watch?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi

I always like this model. Case is a tip of the hat to the old 30 mm chronometers. Plus this is one of the last Connies that is chronometre rated ( omega started to make Connie w/o being a chronometer for a while ). Plus it's very cool to be a chronometer without a seconds hand ! I think it's a cal 712 ....

Case looks to be in very nice condition and if you like the watch .... That is your call.

    Good hunting

I've got the SS version and love it. Re price? Not sure, but it doesn't seem unreasonable.

    Nice item

Considering the condition, and that the case is solid 18K and the dial is solid gold, I don't think the price is over the top.

You can always eat pet food for the next few months if you have to have the watch :D

Hm, I think it's rather expensive although it's mint. it must be a 33 mm case no? If it's love at first sight I can't discuss... ;)

It is a 33mm case, but with a gold dial and case, and with one of the most collectible case styles for these cal 712 ultra-thin movement series, I think 2100 is cheap these days.

If your wrist is as big as Melissa McCarthy's thighs then a 33mm may look a tad too small, but on a 7 inch wrist these models look fine.

    Cheers

Hi Desmond, nice to have the opinion of THE specialist. It'as true that the watch is tidy. I love these 710 movement, Just re assembled one and it's so thin yet efficient.

I agree, and few manufactures in those days had the technology to produce a robust ultra-thin movement. I also love the cal 700 hand wind. :)

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to meet with the seller on Friday to see the watch in person, I'll let you know how it turns out. :)

I bought the watch! I was able to negotiate the price down to $1900. I'm very pleased with it so far. I like the minimalist style, it's something you don't see much in more modern watches. Thanks again for all you guys' help!
