    Hello guys!

I have been in the forum for some time, but this will be my first own thread. So please be gentle :)

While most people like dive watches and the others like chronographs, I like simple, understated, classic dress watches. Currently I only have a vintage VC Patrimony and a vintage Cartier Santos in my dress watches small collection and I would like to add one from Omega and what is better than Omega Constellation, right? I have been looking for a nice Omega Constellation gold watch. I found this watch on C24 and I like it due to the crispiness of the case and the dial. I like the linen dial and the fact that it has OM dial. And the claim from the seller that this watch is NOS.

I am looking for some guidance from experienced people in here, if this sample is NOS as the seller stated, if there is any redial, if it has correct dial and buckle, and more importantly if the estimated value of this watch is in close range with the asking price. The seller asks for 3200 euro for this watch.

Please assist me in this matter.

Thank you very much for your help!

    Cheers
    Marcel

PS: apology for the heavy pictures

Shouldn't the back of this case have the case number on it?

It looks ok , but back case photo would help. At approx £2800...it’s expensive IMO ..even with box and original paper work .but it is a very nice example

Maybe it's been polished off...but the back of mine says "Waterproof 168.025 TOOL 105"

I feel exactly the same way. I'll assume the inside of case back is as mint as the outside of the case back (who's on first?!?). It looks like the rotor did a little bit of rubbing on the case back. I'm fairly certain it's minimal.

I like to make up numbers and stuff so I'll give the outside of this case back a 97 or 98/100. It's really almost perfect.

4 thousand bucks is a lot scratch for this watch BUT my experience tells me that you can almost never reasonably overpay for "mint" condition examples of generally collectible watches.

This watch is definitely a buy (but only at reasonably better price).

Marcel: do you think the seller would take a 20% discount... perhaps €2750 ???

That's because yours is a 168.025, a completely different model.

I wouldn’t say NOS as I think someone has worn it at some point but it’s certainly very sharp.
    Lovely gold linen dial.
The slightly chunky observatory is correct for a gold .009 according to Desmond’s blog.
The price is strong but that’s not unusual for Chrono24.
If you like it and can afford it go for it.
    As they say find another...

    Hi guys,

First, I would like to thank you for the positive, helpful remarks you all gave. OF is really the best!

I added the picture of the back cover. It says 168009 168017. Which one is the model number?

I agree with all of you, I feel the price is on the expensive side. I see watch with the same model, linen OM dial, less mint, less sharp, has some noticable dents on the bezel, but the price is more on the fair side. I will try to negotiate with the seller.

Not relevant to this thread, which constellation do you guys prefer, pie pan constellation or c-shape constellation?

It's in very fine condition, which generally demands a significant price premium. It's definitely "collectors' quality" and possibly the best example in the world! (Sorry, that was a joke referring to a different thread.) Also, there is a lot of gold in the case, which shouldn't be overlooked.

Personally, I'm not a c-case fan, so I would be hard pressed to make this investment. But that's a very subjective opinion.

I also love the C. It’s funny I just got mine too from C24. Arrived today from Calibre-Co in London. A 168.017. Circa 1971 based on the 564 movement serial # Look at ( if u care to) my post today regarding 19/16mm leather band. Yours looks awesome from the pics I see. My point being that my watch is similar for $1600. But then again , I’m very new to all this.

    Similar yes, same no.
Your watch is 14k gold capped, OP’s watch is 18k solid gold with an 18k guilloche dial.

The linen dial is really a nice touch with these Constellations. And much better in real-,vs. the pics I bought from. Love the cal. 5xx too- the cal 561 Seamaster Cosmic I bought two months keeps phenomenal time w tremendous reserve. That convinced me to get a Connie. Just so classy. Never had an Omega watch until this past 2 months. Now 2. So addictive. Good luck w your purchase !
