Hi All, I found this on ebay with the following description: VINTAGE OMEGA AUTOMATIC SEAMASTER CAL 1012 MEN'S CLASSIC WATCH (GREAT CONDITION) SERVICED: Fully serviced and polished, No scratch on the glass and case, Caliber 1012 automatic swiss movement, Case width 38mm including crown,Case length 36.5mm,Date window 3 o'clock,Movement condition is mint, New 18mm genuine omega brown leather band fitted From my quick research, I'm confused whether it is a SM or Geneve. Sorry if the pics are not hi-res enough. Really appreciate any feedback, thanks. F
Seamaster reference 166.0173 well that's what the caseback states.... that's not that case. The 166.0173 had an integrated bracelet. There are a few via google search with normal lugs... Notice the caseback and crown are a different color? I've got a sneaking suspicion that someone bought a lot of these up in the past as replacement bracelets are unavailable and the watch is worthless without them as they are integrated. Recased the watch and sold them on eBay. I believe that reference could be either a geneve or seamaster during its run and where it was sold. The movement is tired and needs a service so figure at least another 200$ for it. I'd pass.
Reference 166.0173 is not a Seamaster. Lots of them are seen with Seamaster dials, but they are all redials, at least every one I've seen, including OPs watch. Strap is a counterfeit.
I think it is a 166.0168 with a wrong caseback, wrong dial and polished to death https://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-details/14683/
I wasn't keen on that caseback and the reason becomes clear when you realise it says 'PLAQUE OR 20 MICRONS'. No wonder it's a peculiar colour.
