    Hi all!

I am Alessandro, an Italian guy living in Madrid and very much passionate about watches, I am in love with 70's Seiko cronos, but I am getting very familiar with Omega too, recently I bought two fantastic pieces with 601 and 613 movement, what a classics! I think I am changing of fiancee, hope Seiko won't notice that.:whistling::whistling:

I am asking please for your expert opinion and help with this matter I am getting trought.

A friend from the states tried to help me out, and finally advice me to ask for help here. What a forum! As it looks there is a lot of combinations of cases and dials in 50's Omega, I really need an help with this.

I bought this fantastic caliber 344 time ago in great conditions, shame the dial have been relumed , but still a great looking dial and watch to be ensembled with a proper case.

It is a 13.758.322 movement series number, caliber 344 , which date probably is 1953. The dial size is 32,5 mm . Looks to be a Jumbo version I have been told. So I forgot all reference cases I was looking before, that probably were wrong. Now I am more focused on cases with references 2494 or 2714, but still not sure of anything.

The last picture (2.jpg) it is a case reference 2494-7 2657 SC rose gold , it looks to me to be ok, but size is worring me. The internal diameter of the case is 31.1 mm, which makes me think is ok because movement goes with a ring (that I will need too) and its size is 28,5 .So I am not sure the dial will fit this case because it is a 32,5 mm. The internal diameter of the bezel for the case is 30.4 mm .

Does anybody know if the dial is supposed to be cover a little, like 1 mm both sides, by the glass and bezel? Or maybe there does exist a case reference, like maybe the 2714, that will fit perfectly?

I do appreciate every kind of help with that, thank you so much for any idea about it.

    Alessandro

No way 32.5mm would fit inside of 31.1mm. Based on the above page, case ref 2714, 2709 and 2663 would fit your dial.(There are more cases than on that page for cal. 344 though.)

While there are some other movements that fit from top down with dial larger than the internal diameter of the case, this bumper movement only fits from the bottom with the dial completely inside of the case.

@Alessandro, if you decide not to use the ref. 2949 case, could you give me a link to it? I am interested in a case just like that :)

    Ciao!

Thank you so much for your help and kind advises about how the dial and movement fits into the case, this is definitively great help for finding a case with those references at least. @ConElPueblo hello! Of course, I am sorry, don't know how to share the ítem , it is on eBay, the seller name is my.spare.time from UK, the case is a little bit ruined in the internal part of all lugs... but it looks great anyway to me. It cost 120 euro ish , the seller told me he is going to let it there some other few times to try to sell it like this, and then in jenuary if doesn't sell it will put an auction from 10 pound.... Hope it helps and you find it interesting, at least you will have your case . Have a great day! If can't find out the ítem let me know we'll figure out how to share the link , email , phone, whatever. Regards!

I would appear that it has been restored at some point, or is an aftermarket job. At least, I have never seen any 2494 with in "gold filled 20 microns" inscribed between the lugs :(

For your reference, here are 2 cal 344 'in the flesh' (although at the carwash at the moment) that fit a 2766 case.
They are somewhere near the OP's serial numbers.

    Here's a 1954 Omega Automatic having a 344 movement that's not labeled a Seamaster.

Here's a look at its movement at the time it was received.
