·I bought my wife a nice Mk1 with a fuchsia bezel for her birthday in 2014...at the time I thought the 6k I paid was too much, but since I waited till the last minute I bought it anyway. I was surprised to see these selling for 14k recently, so this year I bought her a Apple Watch in the hopes she would stop wearing it and I could take over 😀
So far my plan isn't working.

·Throw in a Fuchsia, and that changes everything. I thought $2K for them a few years ago was too much, now they're commanding $5K.

·This is an interesting GMT market currently, as prices have escalated to dizzying heights. Unblemished/unmolested pieces presented by dealers move quickly at premium prices, while private party listings have to be competitively priced to get the same traction. Additionally, good watches are becoming much harder to find. Buyers are quite demanding and selective and are looking for "value".
This watch is hardly a collector piece and the sale has been mishandled by the seller. First, in not declaring the watches flaws (as discussed on this thread), specially since he's a watchmaker on his own account. Secondly, by pricing it way beyond market tolerance. The precipitous decline in price ($18.5K->16K->13K) has left potential buyers wondering why the watch has languished, what potential flaws exist that are not visible and.....how low can he go!
The market has spoken, I had this watch pegged around $11K due to the miss-match dial, unattractive insert and necessary overhaul.
Anyone venture to take a risk on this?

·Looks like the market has spoken. Appears that, depending on the condition of the 3 bracelets, seller was probably close to her $18k valuation.

·I'd have to say i'm surprised at the final hammer. I feel at $15k you could pay just a thousand or two more to de-risk yourself and just purchase from a dealer/reputable private seller.
But maybe the market has moved faster than I realize.

The seller is reputable in this case. He specializes in Citizen chrono restorations. Just not known in the Rolex community. I know what you mean though.
