Niether. Look at earlier models. These post-1972 1000 series calibers aren't as good as the pre-1972 55x (no-date) / 56x (date) / 75x(day/date) calibers. The Seamaster you're looking at is about $100 - $250 higher than the market value IMO, and that model Constellation is the least sought after version.

THey don't do much for myself as well. Not my favorite case style. Of the two I would look at the Connie.

The seamaster's price is too high.
The constellation is nice (I'll take it if the price is right :)) and in Indonesia is in high demand. Last deal I knew it goes for USD 450 for a decent example.

To be honest, not really sure....was just looking for a gift for my boyfriend for his birthday. This isn't meant to be acquired to be a part of a collection or for future value, its simply a nice watch for every day use. He doesn't have a watch, nor does he have any clue about them. But, he is a lover of things with character and a bit of history, this is why I'm looking for a nice vintage vs a middle of the road modern watch. MY preferences are stainless steel bands, however I'm having difficulty finding a 50/60's model that will accommodate a wrist larger than 7 inches. I also know that multiple dials and general busyness on the face are a no-no. Its also difficult when my budget isn't limitless.

The price definitely isn't right if you're quoting $450... its about $300 USD more than that

I think you can get better for the price of the seamaster. Don't prefer either of them. Does seem to me that you are looking for something on bracelet. Or is leather strap fine? The guys may also find it easier to recommend if they have an idea of your budget if you don't mind us asking.
And I should add, I do envy your boyfreind.;)

    Thanks Gavin :)

The Seamaster seller is willing to drop $2oo bucks, seem more reasonable? Trying to keep things under $1000. I imagine that it would be near impossible to not be paying a bit more than the watch is worth regardless of where it comes from. As far as leather goes, I'm just ugh about it ...... sometimes it just looks too dressy or, I don't know how to articulate this properly without sounding rude, but middle aged??

By the way, thank you all for your help. I really appreciate it.

That watch is a 1970s design that's very dated and old-man-ish, and its not the best movement either, its WAY overpriced even at 200 off.

This is it, get it on a bracelet, and you're sweet. Or if you like the frosted metallic dial more:

    Same basic design

the second one is definitely ideal, though both are lovely. Where is the second pic from? The prospect of having to hunt down the proper band for the first one makes me nervous.
