    Hello everyone!
So recently my father gave me a watch, for my birthday, that use to belong to his father.
It's a beautiful Zenith Pilot that i cannot name the model or the year it was made, but, since it looks very old got me intrigued so i begun searching the web for potencial answers to no avail.
So i came across this forum and it looked like the perfect place to maybe get some answers.
    Here is the watch :

If just from those pictures anyone can help me date the watch and the model I would appreciate it very much.
    Thanks in advance.
P.S: If the number is not very clear on the foto it's 9287938. There is a number inside as well if it helps I can provide it.

    Hi,

The model is Pilot as written on the dial.
The serial number is dating the watch from late 50s
The movement is a Zenith 120 that looks quite dirty and will benefit a visit at a watchmaker before you wear it
For the rest, enjoy this gift from your father

As for the cleaning part, I noticed it as well and was already thinking on doing it ASAP. Was just curious on how old the watch was and even maybe if i haven't stumbled up on a relic :)
If it has good value shouldn't be wearing it casually... Thanks for the answer!
If anyone can share any more light on it I would appreciate it.

Value is probably not so high, so don't leave it on your socks' drawer and wear it with pride.

For this age group, "buy it flowers" may have worked better.

I am glad the OP received a ton of relevant information.

With a title like you have, as soon as I read it I thought of posting

    " does it like lobster " :)

Caliber 120 got a hacking function, the second hand stops when you pull out the crown, pretty cool feature. Did own one in 18k that i sold for about 500usd, Zenith gold dress is value for money.

That serial number dates to 1958 or 1959.

Here is a link to Zenith's database (google chrome will translate the page from French, if needed).

    https://sites.google.com/site/zenithistoric/dater-sa-montre-zenith

As you can see, it gets confusing between those two years.

Look at the title of your thread - dating my watch....
And I thought it was quite funny, I was mildly disappointed that he beat me to a similar pun
