    Hello all,
I posted before about an Omega Seamaster that I just won on Ebay. After its arrival, I can now see what Ulackfocus was talking about with the repainted dial. I should have done more homework, but I am not upset at all-I really like this watch! I don’t really mind it being repainted, other than the little minute marks being not crisp and clean, that does bug me. So, I considered selling it (of course advertising it as a repaint), and seeking out another. But, I don’t think I can let it go! I really like it! So, that leaves me with option #2-I want to know if it’s possible to find another real Omega dial for this watch. I am willing to buy a dial alone, or a donor watch if I have to, but I don’t want to ruin one, so I’ll try to find a non working one. Oh, and I have a local watch guy who’s very capable and friendly to do the work. My watch is a black dial with the cross hair, it’s a 1958 503 movement (with date). I can post some pictures later when I get home if anyone is interested. Thanks in advance guys!:)

    My questions are as follows:
Where is a good source besides Ebay to look?
Are there any other movements besides the 503 that would be appropriate?

Thank you to whoever added the picture! That's a really nice face. I think I like the black, though. Crap, now I need one of each! Were there more black or white made? Or are odds about the same of finding a serviceable one in each?

    Hi p2tharizo.
    If the watch has a 503 caliber, it`s a Seamaster Calendar Ref.2849.
    Here`s mine. IMG_0187[1].JPG

White , you will have a very hard time finding a decent original black one for sale.

Very nice Alpen! Cicindela, is that one on Ebay considered the common price range?

Dials can be all over the board, It kind of depends on how badly you need it. I think that one is a little high, esp. with shipping. Might want to wait and follow the market for a while if you are in no rush.

Great! Just what I needed to know. I can keep an eye on Ebay, and post any potential ones here for review.

Thank you all so much! And thanks for not teasing me about this lost cause! Haha

Steve / cicindela beat me to the punch. Watchco-Australia is a very good source for new leftover and service replacement dials. Got one on a Genève myself. It's a fair price. The more popular the watch, the more expensive the replacement parts. Dials can sell for just above $100 to $400+.

I'd grab the one Steve found for u and be done.
When they are gone they are gone. That one
looks like NOS and not Service dial.

If you buy this dial, you will need solid silver hands in correct length.

The hands already on the watch will probably work, but Hoi is right about the length. The minute hand is too long and should reach the minute / second hash marks.

I was also thinking that while I may not really be in a hurry, my watch guy is about 80 years old. Who knows, one day he may not feel like messing with watches anymore. So, that being said, that EBay dial is very nice, but what hands would I need? I know even less about hands than I do dials....if you can believe that!

    To the OP
If you do decide to get a Watchco dial I can pick it up for you and mail it in a standard registered post envelope, that'll save about $20 bucks.

That would be great! They must charge a lot more than actual shipping I take it?

You may need this kind of hands to fit with the dial, the minute hand should reach the minute markers only, not longer than that.
