    Hi Guys,

Im new to the forum and on my way to picking up my very first vintage omega. Wanted to ask for some help before I commit and make a purchase. I have been doing some looking around and have narrowed it down to a few! I am "ok" with a good redial and am not into the very patina-ed vintage watches but as always, i'd of course like to hear the experts opinion :x

These are the few i picked out:

    1. http://www.ebay.com/itm/OMEGA-16601...51767707?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item56587ce59b#Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

    3. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-196...es_Watches_MensWatches_GL&hash=item1e7d07fab4Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

    4. http://www.ebay.com/itm/OVERSIZED-V...870580623?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item2c70c5ed8fPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

    5. http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-MENS-O...241842815?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item3f2746107fPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

    6. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MUSEUM-QUAL...248189694?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item3cd39b04fePurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

    7. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AUTHENTIC-M...?&pt=Wristwatches&maxbid=350&autorefresh=truePurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

Are these good ones? Are any of them fake/bad redials/or definitely stay away from? And which would be a good/bad choice for my first Vintage Omega.

p.s i hope i didnt openly expose myself to an array of aggressive buyers who are going to compete with me for these watches :p

Thanks alot guys! I appreciate it!!

What's your budget like for the piece you're looking for?

For my first vintage piece, I think I'll set my budget at about $500 USD :)

I'm curious about what that caseback is on this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/130946693812Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

I'd avoid the calibre 1000 series watches if possible, and try to get a Calibre 500, 600 or 700 series watch as they were a more highly regarded movement. I'll let some of the others chime in, but if it were me, I'd be looking for a Calibre 750/752 Seamaster.

hmmm. I see. I did too think that the 750 movement is a nicer movement to look at. the 1000 series movement looked abit more plain imo.

But in terms of durability and service? Tbh I want a nice functional watch and won't have much opportunity to ever look at the movement anyway. Am more interested in the way the watch looks overall. Are they redials? :x If so, are they decent redials?

750 is a stronger movement as well as being better looking, its just better made in general :)

Hmm, if you eliminate all the cal 1000s, there arent many left. To help the OP, is watch #7 (the cal 565) a redial? It looks too new, although I don't know enough about the fonts to tell.

Thats a nice watch! but.... I think that is too patina-ed for my liking. I understand that if i wanted a real collector watch it would be something in that condition, or probably way more patina.. and i probably will eventually start having a liking for watches like that. I guess i will learn the hard way haha. for my first way I guess I would start out with something a little more refurbished, which basically looks pretty new.? :x no offence to anyone here intended at all.

yeah that is true. I don't know how to explain it actually but i guess I don't really take a strong liking to that specific watch..

But, out of my options what do you guys think would be a good bet? :x

If we ignore the fact that they are 1000 calibre watches, would they still be decent purchases for the price? What should i expect to pay for one of those? I want to start out with a slightly cheaper one for starters and I think I will eventually explore this forum and vintage omegas more before moving on to my next.. and my next... and next....

Don't buy from that seller unless you plan on putting a few hundred extra into the watch to fix it. You might not need to, but you also could have to pay a watchmaker to repair something like a glued on second hand. First hand experience, not speculation.

Notice how the "S" In Seamaster is smudged and has a big blotch in it, and the dial has T Swiss Made T on it, implying its tritium, but it has no lume? That's because its a junk grade watch slapped together in a South American chop shop (note the seller's location).

Oh thats nice! Thanks for that, something unique which i've never noticed!

Are only the 750/751 's fitted with the sparkle dials? :x

Are any of those I listed fitted with sparkle dials?
