I recently purchased this watch on ebay and am surprised at how good a nick it is. Makes me think the worst. Any help with authenticity and year appreciated.
It's certainly is an Omega case, dial, hands, and bracelet. I'm not experienced enough to know if they all go together, but I can say nothing looks out of the ordinary. The dial also looks original and not refinished to me - but that doesn't hold a lot of weight. I believe the hands have been relumed - but that's not a huge deal. It looks like a great watch!
usually the minute hand would extend to the minute track. here the minute hand doesn't reach the minute track. this could mean: - wrong hands - the dial has been repainted/refinished, and the original dial had the minute track running on the inside of the hour markers. If the dial has been refinished, that would reduce its collector value significantly. If we can get better photos of the dial, so we can clearly see the text, we might be able to give more info.
From the one photo the dial looks refinished - always, always be wary of black omega dials from this era as most of the ones sold on ebay and elsewhere are refinished.
I'm not overly concerned about refinishing of dial as i bought watch to wear not as an investment. Any idea of year anyone? Thanks for comments and assistance, i will take better pics when i get to a computer. Cheers
I'm on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia i will get someone to open it and i will take some pics. Cheers
Cool, photograph the movement and the inside of the case back. record the numbers on the movement (3 digit and 9 digit) in case the photos aren't clear and we should have everything we need to tell you about it.
I had one like that, same dial. Wish I still had it, sometimes look for its replacement. It was a Reference 14700. Tom
