Hello to all. First time post and new member. Have a new found interest in vintage watches...mainly influenced by the gift I just received from my stepfather this weekend. I'm most curious in finding out the year of this watch. I think that these were made between 63-67 based on the location of De Ville and the fact that it's a Seamaster De Ville. Would love to know how to identify the year. I've not taken the back off yet...nor do I think I will as I'm not experienced enough to feel comfortable doing so.

Thanks in advance! photo 3-1.JPG photo 1-2.JPG photo 4-1.JPG

You're correct that they were made from '63 through '67. However, the back doesn't come off - the crystal and bezel lift off and the dial & movement come out the front. The only way to know is by the serial number on the movement.

Awesome. Thanks. Any suggestions for how to remove the crystal and bezel? Should I even attempt?

I wouldn't honestly, get it serviced before wearing it, and during the service have the watchmaker note the serial number for you

Makes sense. Thanks. What would one expect to pay for a service? Would you recommend an AD or any reputable watch repair shop?

Independent watchmakers will charge 200-300, what state are you in?

Stoll's does great work and they're near Dayton I think. Might be around $300 - $350.
