Can u help me out with this 1965 Speedmaster. I know a little but im not an expert...
I know its called an Ed White. Its not a correct DON inlay. That makes me think that the dial and hands are service too... The case looks very fat and sharp. Im a bit concerned about the s/n is 2544.... dates it to 1967. Did Omega make Ed Whites up til 1967 ? I can pick it up tomorrow at $6000usd. Do u think its worth it?
    Best regards

I'm not experienced enough to comment on condition and originality but............... but it's just unattractive IMO. It doesn't speak to me. It might be a good buy for parts value but I simply won't enjoy wearing this the way it is currently.

Probably best to save up and go for one of the more lovely examples that frequent the sales section here.

Serial number is in range. check for metal corrosion between the lugs on the outer rim of the case; looks like there is more than gunk....... if ok, US$ 6000 is ok. you need a service , some case work on the lugs, crystal etc... all minor problems. might cost you another $ 1500 in total and then it is very presentable. kind regards. achim

The watch has had a life. The dial misses original lume, but looks good from the pictures, bezel, hands, pushers and crown were (most likely) replaced, the 1171 bracelet doesn't belong to this watch, it is a later replacement.

Movement looks clean and the serial number is fine (referring to your question, OMEGA produced this reference even in 1967).

If there's no corrosion on the gasket rim (as @watchyouwant mentioned), well, then for 6k, I'd take it for sure... :)

My plan is to bring it straight to my watchmaker. He will know what to do. Cleaned up, service (no polishing of the case), polish the crystal or a new crystal. What im most concerned about is, if its a luminova service dial and hands. but i noticed that the second hand has the pointed back end, are that available as a service part?... The inlay is obviously a service.

The hands are service hands, probably luminova. You can see that the sweep second hand is too short, its tip doesn't reach the outer minute scale.

No. I wouldn't think so, but it would be helpful to see better pictures.

For the moment from what I can see it's a genuine dial with missing tritium lume on the markers.

I'd go for it. You'll need to find the right hands but that could happen. Might try to get the price down a bit tho.

@Nesivel In my opinion there is really no point in buying this watch. It pretty much retains 0 of its original vintage glory.
All (important) external parts are gone. What's the point? Buy a FOIS for about half the price and be happy!

I bought the watch at 5700$, cleaned it up, and polished the glass. Now it looks like this.. I know its a NO go for many with the changed service parts, but im quite happy about it. Anyone got a DON bezel, correct dial and hands fs?

    Well done!

All you need is a DON bezel, flat foot crown and matching bracelet. The dial is genuine / matching and only missing lume, it looks good with the service hands IMO.

Im quite sure its a service dial.. Its luminova. Gloving.. One thing that i dont understand is that the dial is excatly like the original 105.003 dial, and the sec hand have pointed back, and not flat like u always see the service sec hands are?

I don't think that is a service dial. I think original w/ relume.

Yes. The dial is genuine vintage and appears to have been relumed with superluminova. From the previous pictures I didn't notice that and it seemed the lume is simply missing, but yes, the indices have been relumed.

Please take a look at the lumeshot and notice the length of the sec hand. The sec hand go all the way to the outer shortest markers.. Is it possible its the original hands, that have been relumed at Omega aswell ?
Again im thinking of the pointed back end
