I’ve been lurking on OF for a couple years but wanted to formally say, 👋🏻

I’ve always liked watches, but really got into watches a few years ago when I got my Hamilton.

OF has been full of useful (also frivolous!) info and a solid way to distract myself on the couch. Dateline or Antiques Roadshow are usually on in the background, though I’ve been watching the adaptation of Count of Monte Cristo and recommend it. As an aside if there are any other nerds who play MtG, please say hi.

Because of where we live, I don’t have a car, but watch movements fill the engine shaped void in my brain. It’s also not that deep, they’re just nice to look at! As someone who grew up on Goldeneye, I figure I’ll get a Brosnan era Seamaster someday but haven’t pulled the trigger.

I’m currently on the hunt for a birth year Speedmaster, a 145.0022 from 1987, for my 40th. I’ve been enjoying Speedmaster Only and consuming Speedmaster101s videos. One actual question I have is what serial number an ‘87 Speedmaster should have: my best guess 47.232.XXX. But would welcome guidance!

Giving myself a year to find one and welcome suggestions. Keeping in mind Edmund Dante’s advice that all human wisdom can be summed in two words: wait and hope.

Anyway, hi, hello. If anybody visiting NYC wants any recommendations I’d be happy to share some.
