Hi, received a vintage Omega Constellation as a gift, non-working perhaps and/or in need of battery.

Was told it had some value and we could use proceeds towards future education expenses.

It's definitely in the "well-used" category.

The band is a metal Speidel, I've read here that should be changed.

Can you tell me the age and approximate value in this condition?

Lastly, the pull stem comes right off, I assume this isn't normal?

Thanks for ANY info.

It's a self-winding watch so a battery is out of the question.

I think that appears to be a 60’s/70’s constellation which would need a service. Probably a couple hundred dollar value in current state

Welcome @Narajkaj

you have been given an Omega Constellation ref 168.016 with a cal751 day date movement.
It is most associated with the end of the 60s- early 70s.
It is a fine gift.
The case looks to be in pretty good condition.
We would need much clearer pics to assess the originality of the dial.

The loose winding stem can usually be easily fixed when the watch is serviced (which it will require if it’s not running)

These particular references haven’t quite found their place in the collectors market just yet but they are still desirable to some buyers.
if the dial checks out ok, then it is still probably worth a few hundred dollars.
If you intend to sell, don’t do anything with it and sell as is. (Do not polish the case!)
(With the info above, you can check eBay sold listings for sales values)

hope that helps.

Thank you very much!

We will do exactly as you say, sell it on Ebay and put any proceeds into the college fund.

All the best!
