Hi guys, new to this forum so please forgive me.
I've recently become very interested in the "connie", and have been looking for one to buy. I just committed to buy this piece because the seller gave me a pretty good discount as a take it or leave it offer, so i impulsively bought it. I had done some research using the omega constellation blog before, and as far as I could tell the watch looked pretty good. I have also been guaranteed that it is 100% original by the seller. But as I am still fairly new to these watches, I was wondering if you could help me out. I paid around 2500 USD for the watch. Is that a fair price?

This is the information on the watch as per the seller.
Omega Constellation Automatic Two Tone Dial Gold plated anno 1956
    Reference number 2852.

    Movement caliber 505

    Many thanks

Yes sorry I didn't realise the photos had saved so funny.
I don't actually have the watch yet.

There is a weird white patch over the printing. Not quite sure how they achieved that.

I always seem to get it wrong with Connie so I stay well away from them. At 3000 Dollars I'd not be expecting a gold plated one..something perhaps a little more substantial! Chrono 24 does tend on the side of steep prices.....Others can tell you a realistic price.

You can always check the sold listings on eBay for selling prices.

I just tried that. Seems like fakes and very banged up constellations are selling for low 1000s, but I can't really find one that is similar to the watch in question.

Looks pricey to me, though the waffle dial adds value over others perhaps. I have a solid 18K pie pan 2852 (though the dial isn't as clean) and I would be rather surprised if it fetched $2,500, so that price for a capped one sounds a bit rich. It may be the going rate for a good one on C24 though for all I know.

If you are looking for a 1950s Connie then in your situation I would save my pennies and buy this lovely one from a trusted and reputable seller, it has the earlier bumper movement but in other ways ways is more desirable than the C24 one:

Try clicking on his username and use the send message link. I think you should have that. Otherwise I have let @ConElPueblo know that you are interested by name checking him.

Nice unusual dial but looks like someone has tried to clean it.
The case isn’t bad but the case back is a bit knackered (has it been on a lathe do you think?)
    Much too much money.
I would prefer Troels watch as well and with the difference buy another Connie. :)

There are some drawbacks and the watch was very expensive, but there is also plenty to like about it. So you haven't actually been duped as there isn't anything "wrong" with it. A lot of first time buyers pay the same money and end up with a pile of junk so you're better off than they are. If you want to and are able to return it, do so, otherwise consider the whole thing a learning experience and enjoy a perfectly good watch! Oh and don't feel too bad as we've all paid to learn, one way or another.
