I've got an FOIS and the factory strap is still in great shape, but I'm starting to look for some aftermarket options. Buying a replacement factory Omega strap is not an option as they are over $300 for the strap alone in Canada. I'm specifically looking for a 19mm x 16mm strap. I know that 20mm straps will "squish" in between the lugs, but most 20mm straps have 18mm buckles, and I prefer more of a taper. Has anyone found any nice aftermarket straps? The Rios1931 New York Shell Cordovan straps look interesting, but I'm not sure if they are too thick and padded at the lug end (I can't find any good pictures and prefer the subtle padding on the factory strap). Thanks james
This B&S for my Ed White is kind of spectacular (also as it matches the dial cookout a bit. They'd be amazing on e FOIS as well I believe
The Pensa only tapers to 18mm for a 20mm strap. The OP was looking for 16mm at the buckle end. As @MaiLollo suggested B&S, B&L, Hodinkee or JPM all have straps that taper 3-4mm depending on lug width. Also they are all buttery soft leather, just as if not more comfortable that what you're currently using. Also would suggest contacting a few custom strap makers, including those on this forum like @jankoxxx. They can pretty easily make straps that will work with your requirements and preferences.
I have purchased a number of these strap from Amazon. This strap only comes in 20mm. If you use a very sharp razor you can trim.5mm off each side and the strap look likes it was made for the watch.https://www.amazon.com/Ritche-Leather-Watch-Replacement-Buckle/dp/B01N41KH31/ref=s9_simh_gw_g241_i3_r?_encoding=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=&pf_rd_r=81GYMZTMCCBBWDE5JXYN&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=781f4767-b4d4-466b-8c26-2639359664eb&pf_rd_i=desktop
+1 for @jankoxxx straps. I have one of his shell cordovan straps that tapers from 20mm to 16mm and he can configure a strap pretty much any way you want. @mr_pacman
I'd highly recommend a Hodinkee aged leather strap. Hodinkee's Arthur Touchot has had his on the Hunter Green. The Grey would look great as well. As for me I know the only option was going to be the Aged Moss and it looks fantastic. I didn't even wear the watch for about a month until I got the strap. Only complaint is the buckle. It doesn't look steel (polished or brushed) as it look a bit more like... iron or titanium. Still the color of the strap is great (it even doubles as grey to an extent) and pairs amazing well with the watch as it somewhat matches the lume. https://shop.hodinkee.com/collections/straps/products/aged-moss-green-leather-watch-strap As you can see, and you can use their strap finder as well to see this, it pairs really well with a Speedy Pro. In fact I would say that picture doesn't quite do it justice.
I suggest you try RIOS 1931 straps... Their avantgarde, legend, thunderbird and spitfire all fit your 19x16mm requirement. But these are alligator straps, so price a bit steep.
Just get a custom strap made. It sounds like this @jankoxxx person can do it, and there are other strapmakers on etsy.
I've hear a lot of great stuff about Jean Rousseau as well, especially if you want to go down the Crocodile road ! Hodinkee straps look cool but they're made by a third party (I do not recall who exactly?) so I'd save a couple of bucks and get it straight from their suppliers
Bulang & Sons make a lot of their straps. But @jankoxxx is a great strap maker and can do almost anything you want.
Wow. That looks beautiful. I love the patterns in ostrich leg -- my favorite pair of boots are ostrich leg. I looked at the Keleran USA store on eBay. Anyone know how he can sell exotic skin straps so cheap? The prices yesterday were more in the $15-$20 dollar range. How is the quality?
thanks for all of the replies. Just to confirm, is this a Hirsch oil can strap, or a Hadley Roma strap? I am looking for something that has a similar look to the factory strap, so some of the unique custom straps won't work for me. Again, thanks for all of the suggestions.
